KA9CCF, Art Franks, died Monday, December 20, 2004. Art was my wife's
grandfather. Art spent many years communicating with other net
controllers, operators and people all over the world. Art took the time
to share his radio hobby with me and our daughter, his great
granddaughter. Because of the Net and Art's love for his radio, he was
able to help many people and touch many lives. Art Franks was one of
the greatest men I've ever known. Thank you for allowing Art to be a
very proud member of your organization. We will all miss Art very much.

Gentlemen:

It is with deep regret and sadness that I have learned that Art
KA9CCF is now a silent key. Art passed on December 20. 2004.

Art was a dear friend and a long time member of the Maritime
Mobile Service Net. Needless to say he will be greatly missed.

This is an obituary from Art's family.

Arthur L. "Art" Franks, 81, Anderson, passed away
December 20, 2004 at St. John's Medical Center after a brief
illness.

He was born May 21, 1923 in Auburn, the son of Clyde B. and Anna
(Fritz) Franks and lived most all of his life in Anderson.

He retired in 1980 from Delco Remy after 34 years of service.

He was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church, Fellowship Masonic
Lodge #681, Federated Craft Club and Madison County Amateur Radio
Club.

He was a former member of Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis,
Murat Shrine Temple, Madison County Shrine Club and Madison County
Scottish Rite Club. He was a Navy Signalman during WWII and the
Korean Conflict.

He was active in little league as umpire and groundskeeper for
many years.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Jane (Van Dalsen)
Franks of Anderson; son, Lee (wife, Patty) Franks of Denver, CO;
daughter, Carol (husband, Butch) Hodson of Daleville; 3
grandchildren, Nick Franks of Denver, CO, Lisa (husband, Tom)
Francum of Daleville and Laura (husband, Jeff) Vise of Yorktown; 3
great grandchildren, Jessica Francum of Daleville and Emily Vise
and Blake Vise, both of Yorktown; and several nieces and
nephews.
