Robert (Bob) Botik - K5SIV - SK (Jan 23, 1944 – Jan 31, 2015)

Robert Frank Botik, 71, died on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015. Service: At the graveside at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson, Harveson & Cole Funeral Home. Bob was born in Fort Worth on Jan. 23, 1944, to Charles and Gertrude Botik. He graduated from Laneri High School in 1962 and attended TCU majoring in communications. His favorite hobby as a teenager was being a ham radio operator. He pursued his avocation into a lifelong career in radio. He became a DJ on KXOL in Fort Worth in the early '60s and moved to Austin as a DJ at KNOW in 1964. He remained in Austin and worked as a radio consultant until his retirement. Survivors: Wife, Lisa Botik and her children, Ruth Bukowsky and Michael Dario; brother, Charles Botik and his wife, Pat; and many cousins.
