On August 31, 2001, at approximately 0015z, Dwain WA5TNI received a call from the SV Obsession, Carel KF4PHC, that he had just successfully repelled a pirate attack.

He reported that three unknown males had boarded his vessel at 15-45.0N x 088-50.0W. There were four person on Obsession and, finding themselves out-numbered, the would-be pirates retreated.

Carel requested that the USCG be advised and the information passed to the authorities in Livingston, Guatemala. There were no injuries or damage sustained aboard Obsession.

Carel reports that they will spend the night offshore from Livingston and then go into town in the morning to report the incident in person.
